Jersey Penguins 18AA Hockey

ROCK ICE - 2018/19

The Penguins will skate a high level 18AA team for the 2018-19 season out of Rock Ice in Dunellen.

SUMMARY

Last year this team went to the USA Hockey 2017 National Championships. Many of these young men on this team have been together as Penguins since Bantam and have had extraordinary seasons each year.

We have spots open for a few D or F and one goalie to replace graduating seniors. This is an opportunity to join a well established team with solid players, a good locker room environment, and demonstrable success.

Our coach is Barry Lupovich. Coach Barry is extremely talented and makes players better. He has coached this team for the last three seasons and took them to Nationals. His biography is below.

We will have this team on the ice during the Spring. They will take late June and July off and then get back on the ice in August. The pre-season schedule will respect their Spring sport calendars.  They will play a short season Midget schedule at 18AA in the NJYHL.

Practices will be at Rock Ice in Dunellen with start times no later than 8:45p. It is anticipated the practices will be after school (4:30p or so). All ice is already under contract at the rink.

Practice times will be confirmed before we ask your player to try out.

Our players have hockey as a primary sport, a high level of commitment on and off the ice to getting better, and foster a supportive locker room environment - good players and good families.

If you have questions regarding this team please reply here.

SCHEDULE

Following tryouts the team will get on the ice the first week of May.  They will skate weekly on alternating nights through mid-June. The final week of Spring skates will have two practices and then a tournament, if players' schedules permit, or a weekend of games.

The team will take the ice again in the second week of August for clinics and practices.  We will have weekend events (extra practice or game) beginning by August 25. Thereafter, we begin League games.

The team will have at least 15 hours on the ice together prior to the start of the season.

All ice slots are already under contract at the rink.
